Abstract

1412414 Plate type evaporator APV CO LTD 26 Oct 1972 [4 Nov 1971] 51347/71 Heading B1B In a plate type evaporator e.g. of the thin film type similar to that described in Specification 1299481, the flow spaces between alternate pairs of gasketed plates are divided into two or more process liquid flow zones 4 and 5, each fed separately through distribution holes 4a and 5a respectively from feed ports 6 which each form part of a separate feed liquid distribution system, further port 2 being for steam feed and port 3 for condensate discharge. The arrangement enables a different feed liquid to be evaporated in each of zones 4 and 5, as for the same feed liquid to be passed twice through the apparatus to be evaporated once in each zone 4 and 5.
