Abstract
1412008 Benzodiazepines RECORDATI SA CHEMICAL & PHARMACEUTICAL CO 11 Oct 1972 [19 Oct 1971 18 May 1972] 46929/72 Heading C2C Compounds of the general formula (R=H, halogen, OMe; R<SP>1</SP>=H, halogen, Me, OMe, Ph, OPh, C 1-12 alkylthio, cyclohexylthio, PhCH 2 S, PhS ; R<SP>2</SP> = NMe 2 , NEt 2 , substituted or unsubstituted 5- or 6-membered saturated heterocyclic group linked to X via a nitrogen atom and optionally containing a second hetero atom; X=C 2-3 alkylene) and their acid addition and quaternary ammonium salts are prepared by converting the corresponding 2-thione to an alkali metal derivative and reacting the latter with R<SP>2</SP>XHal (Hal = halogen), optionally followed by salt formation. The above compounds are antibacterial and antiviral agents, and may be administered in the form of pharmaceutical preparations containing them in association with a carrier.
