Abstract

1410089 Two-part coupling G SPINNER 9 March 1973 [9 March 1972] 11643/73 Heading H2E A coaxial plug connector terminating an airinsulated cable having outer casing 5 surrounding corrugated outer conductor and solid innerconductor, provided interconnected annular sealing spaces 6 and 4 round and behind a nut 2 screwed to the corrugations of the outer conductor, the spaces being filled after assembly with synthetic resin. The outer conductor, flanged at 10, is trapped between nut 2 and contact ring 9, itself in contact with connector head 1. The inner conductor is terminated by a screwed-in member 14, extended into a plug 16 with hexagonal bore for tightening, and carrying insulating support-ring 13 fitting between head 1 and a step in contact ring 9 to seal the end of the cable. In another embodiment, annulus 9, screwed-in member 14 and support ring 13 are made integral by injection moulding of 13 between the other two components. Nut 2 screwed to the corrugated outer conductor carries radial slots 8 connecting annular spaces 6 and 4; space 6 is entered by sealing screw 7 which, on removal, allows injection of sealing resin to spaces 6 and 4. Contact ring 9 carries an annular depression entered by sealing screw 11, communicating via radial holes 12 with the inter-conductor space for injection of dry gas.
