Abstract

1410076 Switch indicators SOC ANON AUTOMOBILES CITROEN 8 Dec 1972 [10 Dec 1971] 56903/72 Heading H1N A rocker switch control member 1, Fig. 1, pivoted at 2 and rockable between extreme positions has translucent indicator zones 4a, 4b thereon which are selectively illuminated from a common light source 7 in dependence on its position. Surface 9a, 9b of the projection 6 and end surfaces 10a, 10b all of which are rockable conjointly with the control member are treated to be reflective, or have reflective surfaces formed in the plastics moulding, to form means whereby the indirect light rays emerging through the aperture in the shroud 8 are deflected towards the selected position indicator zone for the switch control member. Alternatively the control member may be of transparent material with projection 6 acting dioptically to provide refraction and reflection for the light rays. Another embodiment, Fig. 3, uses clusters of optical fibres 11a, 11b incorporated within the control member to transmit the light signal and to portray it in any required manner such as the arrow shape 14. An optical tube receiving light from a remote source can be used in place of source 7 and all such sources may be flashing and may be switched on by movement of the control member.
