Abstract

1409961 Garage lifts L KATZ 7 June 1973 27241/73 Heading B8H [Also in Division F2] In a screw and nut actuated vehicle lift, each nut comprises a two-part housing 20 with a cylindrical bore 21 having ribs 18 to mount semicylindrical threaded nut segments 14, 14<SP>1</SP>, 14<SP>11</SP>, 14<SP>111</SP>. The segments have at least two complete threads and are resiliently supported by semicylindrical backing-pieces 17, 17<SP>1</SP>, 17<SP>11</SP>, 17<SP>111</SP> to allow independent self-adjustment and selfalignment of the segment. A plate 22 located between the two parts of the housing engages the ends of the segments to prevent rotation of same in use. The lift comprises a pair of vehicle platforms I, II each mounted on support arms 7, 7<SP>1</SP>, 7<SP>11</SP>, 7<SP>111</SP> supported cantilever fashion by respective carriages 6, 6<SP>1</SP>, 6<SP>11</SP>, 6<SP>111</SP>. The carriages move along I-section guides 11, 11<SP>1</SP> with wheels 9 and a roller 13 engaging opposed surfaces of a flange and are suspended gimbal fashion by links 12, 121 from nut housings 20, 20<SP>1</SP>. The housings are associated with respective screws 2, 2<SP>1</SP> contra-rotated by a motor 5 to raise or lower the platform.
