Abstract

1409746 Coke ovens KRUPP KOPPERS GmbH 5 Dec 1972 [11 Dec 1971] 56018/72 Heading F4B A horizontal coke oven battery having a recirculation heating system comprises flue pairs 1, 2 separated by a wall 3. Communication between the flues 1, 2 is provided by a port 4 in the upper part of the wall 3 and a recirculation port 5 at the lower end of the wall. Lean gas and air enter the flue 1 through ports 6, 7 and propellent gas is introduced through a nozzle 9, this augments the kinetic energy of the combustion media and extends combustion into the upper part of flue 1. A nozzle 12 is provided in flue 2 for admission of propellent gas into the downward stream. Waste gases are exhausted through ports 8. The circulation may be reversed, with propellent gas being injected through nozzles 10, 11.
