Abstract
1409663 Hatch covers ALGOSHIP INTERNATIONAL Ltd 19 Oct 1972 [15 Jan 1972] 2004/72 Heading B7S Two hatch cover panels 5a, 5b are hingedly connected along abutting ends 6 for jack-knife folding movement on rails 36 of rectangular coaming 12. Hinge brackets 17 extend outwardly and downwardly from the end of panel 5b and deck mounted bracket 18 is on the longitudinal centre line of the hatch cover. The ends of brackets 17 remote from panel 5b are pivotally mounted on the bracket 18 and the hatch cover is moved by hydraulic cylinder and ram 28. Link members 23, 25 are pivotally mounted on panel 5b and bracket 18 and to the end of the ram and are at right angles to each other when the cover is in the hatch closed position. Rollers 43 on the end wall of panel 5b engage a pair of ramps 45 on the end wall 19 of the coaming to give an initial lift to the panel, as both panels move to a vertical position clear of the end of the coaming.
