Abstract

1409109 Vibrators FINDEVA AG 13 Dec 1972 [15 Dec 1971] 57448/72 Heading F2X A compressed air vibrator comprises a cylindrical casing 1 with a plastics cover 3 fitted into the opening at each end. Each cover 3 has a truncated-cone-shaped peripheral surface 3a and a resilient lip 4 which snaps into a groove 2 in the internal surface of the casing 1, a vertical face 3b of the lip abutting the vertical side wall 2a of the groove. Bores 5 in the covers 3 are engaged by the ends 6a of a pintle 6 containing an axial bore 7. One end 6a projects from the associated cover 3 and forms a nipple 6b for the attachment of a compressed air pipe. A longitudinal slot along the pintle opens into the bore 7 and contains a slide 9. The casing 1 also contains an eccentric weight in the form of a freely movable metal rotor 11 of hollow cylindrical shape. The two covers 3 contain outlet holes 12 and in the position of rest of the rotor 11, these holes are covered by the end walls of the rotor 11. Compressed air entering the bore 7 issues through a gap between the slide 9 and the walls of the longitudinal slot, imparting torque to the rotor 11. The latter begins to move and cyclically uncovers and covers the outlet holes 12. The described construction of the covers 3 without central bores 5 is also applicable to compressed air vibrators which make use of a ball as the eccentric weight. In both instances, the internal pressure in the casing assists in pressing the lips 4 against the side walls 2a of the grooves 2 and thus improves the sealing effect.
