Abstract

1409064 Cyclone separator F E BEAUMONT LTD 21 May 1973 [2 June 1972] 25880/72 Heading B2P [Also in Division F4] A cyclone separator for separating particulate matter entrained in flue gases comprises a hollow column 1, Fig 1, with an upper tangential inlet duct 9 leading into a helical path defined by a helical blade 8, Fig 3, which spans an annular space between an outer shell 2 of the column and an outlet pipe 6 and extends for one complete revolution about the outlet pipe, the inlet duct 9 having a depth in a vertical direction coinciding with the vertical dimension spanned by the helical blade, the lower end 7 of the pipe 6 being open within the column for the entry of flue gases and the lower end of the column having an outelt aperture 4 for the passage of particulate matter separated from the gases. As shown in Fig 1, the separator is connected between a boiler flue 11 and the base of a chimney 15.
