Abstract
1408306 Fermentation apparatus VSESOJUZNY NAUCHNO-ISSLEDOVATELSKY INSTITUT BIOSINTEZA BELKOVYKH VESCHESTV 21 Sept 1972 [21 Sept 1971] 43722/72 Heading C6F Fermentation apparatus includes a closed container 1, having radial partitions to form a series of chambers including one substantially semi-annular chamber, and a central upstanding tube 5 which is semi-tubular except for a portion 4 which forms the inner wall of the substantially semi-annular chamber which chamber contains a vessel whose inner and end walls are formed by inner chamber wall 4 and radial partitions respectively. The other chambers are also supplied with vessels and all vessels have apertures in their bases for flow of liquid, and associated there with aerating and mixing devices 10 and heater exchangers 9. Air is admitted through stationary ducts 24. The outer container wall, central tube and outer peripheral wall of the semi-annular vessel are preferably circular in plan and concentric. The space below the floor of the semi-annular vessel may be partitioned radially, the floor space between partitions comprising separate apertures with associated pumps.
