Abstract

1408230 Aligning a weapon ELTRO GmbH GES FUR STRAHLUNGSTECHNIK 26 Oct 1973 [27 Oct 1972 19 June 1973] 50021/73 Heading F3C A weapon 6 has a direction finding laser receiver 7 and a sighting device 3 has a laser transmitter 4 so that, when the latter is beamed at a target 2, a portion 9 of the laser beam 8 is reflected from the target 2 and received by the direction finding laser receiver 7. The laser transmitter 4 may be combined with a laser rangefinder 10 for determining the aim-off allowance for the weapon 6 and the direction finding laser receiver 7 may be combined with another laser receiver (not shown). The sighting device 3 and the laser transmitter 4, which are interconnected, are mounted on a helicopter 1 and the weapon 6 and the direction finding laser receiver 7 are interconnected and mounted on a skid 5 of the helicopter. The receiver 7 may be of the four-quadrant type, is attuned to the laser wavelength, is constantly re-aligning the weapon 6, and is mounted on a swivelling stand (not shown). A number of weapons may be simultaneously aligned on a target by the above apparatus.
