Abstract

1408199 Reactor head; stirring apparatus A FINK 7 Sept 1972 [11 Sept 1971] 41480/72 Headings B1C and B1F The invention relates to a reactor head for a gas/liquid phase chemical reactor, through which head gas from inlet 3 is introduced to reactor 4 through passage 2a adjacent stirrer shaft bearing element 7a so that the gas flow reduces the tendency for corrosive reaction mixture to contact element 7a. Deflector plate 9 also protects element 7a from spray. Stirrer shaft 6 is connected to drive shaft 19 by a magnetic coupling 11, and to stirrer 17 by pin 27. The coupling consists of a magnetic sleeve and core 22, 20 separated by a sealing cap 21.
