Abstract

1408025 Fibre-reactive azo dyestuffs HOECHST AG 30 Oct 1972 [30 Oct 1971] 49895/72 Heading C4P Novel reactive dyestuffs of the formula wherein Z is a radical containing a substituted 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring, in which at least one substituent is capable of being split off, or Z is a substituted aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aliphatic, araliphatic radical in which at least one substituent bound to the aliphatic radical or moiety is capable of being split off; R is H, C 1 _ 5 alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl-(C 1 _ 5 alkyl) any of which may be substituted; B is an optionally substituted, mono- or bi-nuclear aryl or heteroaromatic group ; Y is -O-, -S-, -CO-, -SO 2 -, -CH=CH-, -CH 2 -, -NH-, -NHCONH-, -NHCO- or -NHSO 2 -; A is an optionally substituted phenylene or naphthylene group; n, v and w are each zero or 1; and m is 1 or 2, and their salts and heavy metal complexes are prepared (a) by condensation of corresponding dyestuffs containing H in place of Z with suitable reactants Z<SP>2</SP>-X<SP>1</SP> or Z<SP>2</SP>-X<SP>2</SP> where X<SP>1</SP> is a radical that can be split off by an amine, Z<SP>2</SP> has the same meaning as Z but does not necessarily represent an identical radical, and X<SP>2</SP> is a group containing one double bond capable of addition e.g. an isocyanate group which inserts a -CONHZ<SP>2</SP> group; or (b) by direct diazotization and coupling of an appropriate amine with an appropriate 1- acylamino - 8 - hydroxynaphthalene - 3,6 or 4,6-disulphonic acid. Reactive groups in the products may be interconverted by standard procedures. e.g. -SO 2 (CH 2 )OH may be esterified to -SO 2 (CH 2 )OSO 3 H; and resulting dyestuffs may be converted to their metal complexes by standard procedures also. The novel reactive dyestuffs are used for dyeing and printing fibrous materials containing nitrogen and those containing hydroxy groups, e.g. wool, silk, polyamide and polyurethane materials, cotton, linen and viscose rayon. Specification 1,144,966 is referred to.
