Abstract
1407524 Froth flotation AMERICAN CYANAMID CO 12 Jan 1973 [24 March 1972] 1839/73 Heading B2H An ore is beneficiated by subjecting it to froth flotation in the presence of tetrasodium N-(1, 2-dicarboxyethyl)-N-octadecylsulfosuccinamate as a collector. The ore may be celestite (SrSO 4 ), barite (BaSO 4 ), scheelite (CaWO 4 ), fluorite (CaF 2 ), calcite (CaCO 3 ), magnesite (MgCO 3 ), gypsum (CaSO 4 . 2H 2 O), anhydrite (CaSO 4 ) or apatite (Ca 4 (CaF) (PO 4 ) 3 ). Sodium silicate, sodium carbonate, sodium hydroxide and quebracho may be used as depressants for gaugue materials which may include calcite, hematite, quartz, calcium fluorite, silicates, garnet, diopside, dolomite and argillaceous minerals. Polypropylene glycol may be used as a frother. The flotation may be carried in stages a portion of the collector being added at each stage. Examples are given.
