1405087 Burglar alarms F SCOTT 7 Aug 1972 [15 May 1971] 15177/71 Heading G4N An alarm device for a safe or other security container comprises an arm 3 mounted on a base plate 1 and swingable under the bias of a spring in a plane perpendicular to the axis of movement of a pin member 7 extending slidably through an aperture in the base plate 1, movement of the safe causing displacement of the base plate 1 relative to the pin 7 as to release the arm 3 normally restrained by the pin 7 to close the contacts of a switch 4 for activating an audible alarm 5. A remote alarm (Figs. 2, 3, not shown) circuit may include two insulated contacts on the slidable pin 7 abutted by a conductive part of the arm 3 or a pair of normally closed switch contacts 9 open circuited by the release of arm 3 for de-energizing relays and to close a battery powered bell circuit (Fig. 3). The base plate may be part of a housing for shielding the device from the interior of the safe. A distance piece may be provided between the base plate and a hole in the floor of the safe through which the pin 7 passes to deny access to the pin to a burglar.
