Abstract
1405055 Gettering PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 27 Sept 1973 [30 Sept 1972] 45287/73 Heading H1D A getter includes BaAl 4 , means for rapidly releasing the barium from the BaAl 4 and for chemically binding the aluminium, and a nitrogen source which includes germanium nitride, Ge 3 N 4 , in the free state. The means referred to above can be nickel powder which reacts exothermically with the BaAl 4 or it can be a titanium containing material including at least 50% wt. of FeTi and/or NiTi 2 , the balance if any being Na 3 Ti. The getter can be degassed between 600‹ C. and 800‹ C. for one hour. The getter can be used in a picture cathode ray tube.
