Abstract
1404694 High voltage resistors HITACHI Ltd 24 July 1973 [9 Aug 1972 (2)] 35261/73 Heading HIS A device for use as the high resistance arm of a D.C. voltage divider comprises a plurality of series connected resistor elements, each consisting of a resistive film 5 on a flat refractory base 1 and the bases being stacked in a laminar fashion but spaced apart and encased in an adhesive thermo-setting resin body 8. A number of materials are suggested for the bases 1 and the films 5; the latter may, for example, be of RuO 2 -Ag applied by screen printing and fired. Conductive terminals 2-4 are formed by firing a Pd-Ag-glass paste, terminal 3 being connected by a wire (7, Fig. 2, not shown) to a selected terminal 4 to give the desired resistance value. The series connections are also formed by wires 7 and the bases 1 are spaced by jigs which may be removable or cast into the body 8. A number of suitable resins for the body are suggested, having a coefficient of thermal expansion matched to that of the bases 1. As shown the body 8 -is moulded to a porcelain insulator 10 for H.V. terminal 11, but this may be omitted (Fig. 5, not shown) or a resin insulator formed by integral moulding (Fig. 7, not shown). A shielding case 12 is provided.
