Abstract
1403758 Faired cables VEREINIGTE FLUGTECHNISCHE WERKE - FOKKER GmbH 27 Sept 1972 [5 Oct 1971] 44706/72 Heading D1T A cable fairing comprises two profiled bands 1, 2 that are substantially symmetrical to one another, these bands being detachably interconnected as at 3, 4 and 5 and jointly forming a cavity 1a, 2a in which a cable 7 or tow rope 6 is loosely accommodated. In Fig. 3a (not shown) a tow rope 6 is housed in the cavity 1a, 2a and the cable 7 is housed in a further cavity in the tail of the fairing. The tail also includes closed cavities (8) that accommodate measuring instruments or sensors. There may be a cable 7 in the nose of the fairing as well as in the tail thereof. In Fig. 4 (not shown) the profiled bands 1, 2 are of a skeleton structure and the resulting cavities are filled with a buoyancyproducing material.
