Abstract

1403220 Treating textiles HENKEL & CIE GmbH 14 Dec 1972 [17 Dec 1971] 57808/72 Headings D1B and DIP Textiles are treated with aqueous solutions which contain a wetting and/or washing agent which is a poorly foaming adduct of 5 to 20 moles of ethylene oxide with 1 to 10 moles of propylene oxide and 1 mol of an aliphatic diol having 10 to 20 carbon atoms, the hydroxyl groups of which are substantially all non-terminal and adjacent. The preferred adducts contain 5 moles of EO+3 moles of Po, or 7 moles of Eo, + 5 moles of Po in combination with 1 mol of a diol of average chain length C 15 to C 17 . The adducts are used in dyeing cotton with direct and vat dyes and is scouring, washing, desizing and bleaching processes.
