Abstract
1402270 Thermosensitive colour-forming material having cellulose ether binder ING C OLIVETTI & C Spa 27 Nov 1972 [29 Nov 1971] 54791/72 Heading G2C A thermosensitive material comprises a paper support carrying in a single coating a composition formed by mixing together separately prepared dispersions in a binder of (a) finely divided solid crystal violet lactone and (b) a phenolic acidic compound, the binder comprising at least 5 wt per cent of a non-ionic cellulose ether which acts as a dispersing and binding agent, said (a) and (b) dispersions containing respectively a lubricating agent and a white or weakly coloured pigment capable of absorbing the melted composition. The binder may be methyl cellulose, hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose or hydroxyethylmethyl cellulose. The cellulose ether may be used in combination with starch, modified starch, polyacrylamide, pectine or urea formaldehyde resin. The lubricating agent may be a wax, metal soap or lubricant pigment, e.g. calcium, magnesium, silver, lithium or aluminium stearate, an aminide wax or micronized talcum. The pigment may be clay, kaolin, silica, calcium carbonate, zinc oxide, titanium oxide, magnesium silicate, barium sulphate or talcum. The phenolic acidic compound may be 4, 4'-isopropylidene diphenol or Bisphenol A.
