Abstract

1401861 Dental prosthesis ORATRONICS INC 19 May 1972 [2 Aug 1971] 23808/72 Heading A5R An artificial tooth support for permanently implanting in the jaw comprises a thin blade portion 12 having a sharp end which may be an edge 18 which is driven into a groove in the jawbone, a support portion 14 in which the artificial tooth is to be mounted and which is thicker than the blade and an inclined shoulder surface 26 adapted to seat in a correspondingly shaped groove in the jawbone. The support portion may have score lines 57 facilitating the emplacement of the blade the correct distance into the bone. Vents 20 provide for regeneration of bone therethrough and teeth 34 improve bone engagement (see Specification 1401862). Numerous designs of implant are disclosed including an embodiment (Fig 27, not shown) having a blade terminating in a double point, implants having two support portions and blades adapted to enter the bone without penetrating a sinus cavity. The implant may be cast in titanium.
