Abstract

1401631 Vibratory screening apparatus GOUGH & CO (HANLEY) Ltd 11 Jan 1973 [25 Jan 1972] 3440/72 Heading B2H [Also in Division F2] Vibratorily driven apparatus, e.g. sieves, strainers or ore concentrators comprises a supporting frame 28 which supports at least three separately inflatable flexible air bags 30, and a vibratory frame 4 supported by the air bags 30 and in turn supporting a treatment vessel 2 and a power source 22 driving at least one out-of-balance weight 24 rotatable about a vertical axis. The rotation of the weight(s) causes the vibratory frame 4 to vibrate, in such a manner that a vertical axis which extends through the centre point of the plan configuration of the frame 4 and the vessel 2 describes a cone of precession. As shown, the power source 22 is an electric motor having a vertically extending shaft, out-of-balance weights 24 being mounted at each end of the shaft. In the case of a sifting machine, the vessel 2 comprises a base frame 6 and a top frame 8 with a mesh lawn 10 clamped between the two frames by means of clamps 12. A sloping plate 14 within the base frame 6 directs material passing through the lawn 10 towards an outlet 18. In use, adjustment of the amplitude and locus of the vibration imparted to the vessel 2 is made by adjusting the relative positions of the weights 24 on the motor shaft. Further adjustment may be made by adjusting the air pressure in the air bags 30 using the individual adjustment provided by air valves 32.
