Abstract

1401225 Automatic analysis; sample container incubation SHERWOOD MEDICAL INDUSTRIES Inc 27 July 1972 [30 July 1971] 35248/72 Heading G1B Testing apparatus comprises a conveyer which may comprise turn-table (24) for carrying one or a plurality of sample-holding containers in positions 44 along a path to a testing station, means for stepwise operation of the conveyer, a testing station adjacent the path, incubation means for incubating the or each sample in its container upstream of the testing station, the incubation means comprising a heat-conductive block 270 having in it recess 272 for receiving at least a part of a sample-holding container, means which may comprise silicone rubber strip heating elements 294 for heating block 270 and means operative conjointly with the conveyer operating means to move the block out of the path before movement of the conveyer and to move the block into the path when the conveyer is halted, the blockmoving means comprising an electric motor connected to the block and dashpot means 288, 292 operatively associated with one of the block and the motor for retarding the rate of movement of the block into the path. The block may have one of the container-holding recesses 272 less deep than the others so that the sample-holding continer at the testing station is lifted off the conveyer for the measurement step.
