Abstract

1401013 Coffee tablets or pellets D E J INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH CO BV 10 Sept 1973 [30 Aug 1972] 40173/72 Heading A2B Tablets or pellets of ground roasted coffee are reinforced by inert fibres. Chicory, cocoa, or sugar may also be present. The fibres may be impregnated with additives to improve the keeping or organoleptic properties of the product e.g. flavour enhancers, antioxidants, sweeteners, wetting agents or salts. The fibres may be cotton, hemp or jute, or synthetic fibres such as rayon, nylon, polyester, polyacrylics, or polypropylene. The weight of fibre may be 0.1 to 5% of the weight of coffee, the length to diameter ratio of the fibres may be between 5 and 200 and the fibres have a length at least 4 times the mean diameter of the coffee particles.
