Abstract
1400090 Preventing swinging of loads ISHIKAWAJIMI - HARIMA JUKOGYO KK 28 Dec 1973 [29 Dec 1972] 60048/73 Heading B8B A container 35 is attached to a spreader 34 for lifting and lowering, the spreader 34 being included in a sheave block 19 with sheaves 20, 21, 22, 23 around which ropes 3, 3<SP>1</SP>, 4, 4<SP>1</SP> from drums 1, 2 on a rope-trolley type container crane are reeved after passing through guide sheave frames 36, 37. The ropes 3, 3<SP>1</SP>, 4, 4<SP>1</SP> thus hang in V form from trolley 10 to inhibit swaying of the container 35. The guide sheave frames 36, 37 are connected by ropes 38, 39, 40, 41 to drums 50, 51 on the trolley 10, the drums 50, 51 being driven by a torque motor 54 provided with a brake 55. In operation the guide sheave frames 36, 37 may be raised or lowered either with the spreader 34 or relatively thereto by suitable control of the torque motor 54 and brake 55 in conjunction with the drums 1, 2. As illustrated in Fig. 4, (not shown), containers 35 may be loaded into or unloaded from cells of a container ship by suspending the guide sheave frames 36, 37 in a fixed position above deck and extending and retracting the vertical runs of the ropes 3, 3<SP>1</SP>, 4, 4<SP>1</SP> between the guide sheave frames 36, 37 and the sheave block 19.
