Abstract
1499351 Cultivating novel bacteria L A JOHNSON and E WIROSTKO 22 Jan 1975 [23 Jan 1974] 2880/75 Heading C6F A process for culturing the micro-organism Micromyces intracellularis nov. sp. (ATCC No. 31,000) comprises (a) removing from a patient having present in his body the micro-organism Micromyces intracellularis a quantity of inflamed fluid or tissue containing the micro-organism; (b) inoculating this fluid or tissue into a non- human animal capable of propagating the microorganism; and (c) harvesting the micro-organism from the animal. It is stated that the novel microorganism has been found to be associated with many diseases (specified) and cannot be grown in vitro on bacteriological media.
