Abstract

The novel compounds correspond to the formula: <IMAGE> in which A denotes ethylene or cis-vinylene, R<1> and R<2> each denote hydrogen or C1-C3-alkyl, R<3> and R<4> each denote C1-C3-alkyl and R<5> denotes hydrogen or hydroxyl. They are prepared from corresponding 9-hydroxy compounds, which have a protective hydroxyl group in the 15- and optionally also in the 11-position, by oxidation in the 9-position and subsequent removal of the hydroxyl protective groups. Resulting carboxylic acids can be converted into salts or methyl esters, and resulting methyl esters into the carboxylic acids. The compounds exert an inhibitory action on gastric secretion and a bronchodilatory action, without undesired side effects; they can be used in the corresponding therapeutic indications.
