Abstract

1496191 Flocculation, flotation and filtration of water CLARKE CHAPMAN Ltd 16 Dec 1975 [22 Jan 1975] 2717/75 Heading C1C A method of clarifying water containing suspended matter comprises a flocculation stage, an air flotation stage and a filtration stage, air bubbles being introduced beneath the floc-laden water between the flocculation and flotation stages and the clarified water being passed upwardly through the filtration stage. An apparatus for carrying out the process is also claimed. Dewatering of the sludge may be carried out in the flotation stage using a strainer device with one or more walls composed of bristles through which the water flows, and periodically the brittle walls (which are rotatable) are rotated to sweep sludge into a gutter.
