Abstract

1492842 Cartons REED INTERNATIONAL Ltd 2 Jan 1976 [2 Jan 1975] 103/75 Heading B8P An open top carton of cardboard or corrugated board has extensions 6 on end walls 2 folded to lie inside side walls 4 and flaps 8, 10, 14, 15 provide horizontal, inwardly extending flanges at the carton top. The flaps 10 are enclosed within the flaps 14, 15 the flaps 15 having tongues 17 that engage slots 18 in the extensions 6. Handholes 21 are provided in the end walls and ventilation holes 19, 20 may be provided. In modifications, the handholes may be replaced by tabs forming handles; each extension 6 may be the same length as the sides 4 so that the side walls are of three thicknesses and the inwardly directed flange is of four thicknesses ; the extension 6 may have tongues at their lower edges engaging slots in the edges of the base and the flanges 8 on the end walls may be of double thickness. Staples or glue may be used to secure the carton in its assembled condition.
