Abstract

1492783 Syringe operating device H R CUTHBERT 4 Feb 1975 [13 Feb 1974] 6552/74 Heading A5R [Also in Division Fl] A syringe assembly comprises a piston and plunger surgical syringe in combination with an operating device which comprises a cylindrical sleeve 2 slidable on the barrel B of the syringe and resilient arms 3 which are integral with the sleeve and parallel to the axis thereof, the arms having upwardly bent free end portions 4 for engaging the head of the plunger P. Finger grips 5 on the sleeve 2 for engagement by the first and middle fingers of his hand permit the operator to move the sleeve 2 rearwardly on the barrel B by a single manual squeezing action when his thumb engages the rear flange F of the barrel thus causing the arms 3 to retract the plunger P. The device may be formed from a shaped blank Fig. 3 (not shown).
