Abstract

1491869 Invalid carriages R C HAYES 26 Feb 1975 [4 Dec 1973 2 Jan 1974 3 Aug 1974] 56114/73 00009/74 and 34313/74 Heading B7B In a carriage for carrying patients in a plaster cast a support means 20 is adapted to receive a bar 30 fixed to the plaster cast. As shown in Fig. 1 an upright body support strut 16 mounted on longitudinal member 14 is adjustable in height and has slidably adjustable arms 18. The cast support 20 comprises an upright hollow stem 22 which fits over a selected one of four members 24 projecting from the longitudinal member 14. Two foot supports 34 project rearwardly from the front transverse member 10. Fig. 3 shows a stand member 40 which, when pivoted about rear transverse member 12 into the operative position, raises the rear wheels off the ground. The stand is biased into the inoperative position by a spring 52. In a further embodiment, Fig. 5, the bar support 26<SP>1</SP> is slidably adjustable on the longitudinal member 14<SP>1</SP>. Also, a contoured seat 66 is pivotable about a transverse axis provided by arms 62 projecting from the rear transverse member 12.
