Abstract

For economical burning of cement clinker, the material is divided into two streams which pass separately from one another through the preheating and calcining system and then together through the rotary kiln and cooler. The combustion air preheated in the cooler passes directly into one branch of the calcining system, and the combustion air preheated in the rotary kiln is fed with the combustion gases to the other branch of the calcining system. The equipment for carrying out the process comprises a calcining system with two branches (3) and (4). Only the branch (4) of the calcining system is connected directly to the clinker cooler (2) by the pipe (15) for feeding the combustion air. The other branch (3) of the calcining system is connected to the rotary kiln (1) by the pipe (12) for feeding waste gases and combustion air. the feeding of the material streams from the two branches (3) and (4) to the rotary kiln (1) can be designed in various ways. As a result of the novel arrangement, the production operation is made flexible, and the heat losses and pressure drops in the plant are minimised. <IMAGE>
