149,027. Read, H. R., Campbell, R. H., and Sparklets, Ltd. March 24, 1919. Siphon bottles. - A device for discharging compressed or liquefied gas from a capsule into a siphon, bottle, or other vessel, comprises a casing k which forms a cradle for the capsule and can be attached to the spout of the siphon by a sleeve o and by a bayonet joint. A sliding member a within the casing contains a rubber washer f, a metal piece d, a piercer q, and a rubber thimble i held in place by a flanged sleeve j which is screwed or otherwise secured so as to be removable when the rubber parts are to be renewed. The screw n, which acts through the capsule first to form a tight joint between the washer f and the siphon spout and then to force the capsule against the piercer, carries an extracting device x looped round the head of the screw and formed with a loop y which surrounds the neck of the capsule. On withdrawal of the screw the device x withdraws the sliding member a from contact with the spout and then withdraws the capsule from the thimble i. A carrier for a pawl to retain the lever of the siphon in a depressed position is attached to the device.
