Abstract

Compounds of the following formula <IMAGE> in which R1 and R2 are the -COCH3 radical, and R3 is hydrogen, are prepared by reacting tetra-(N-1,N-3,N-2''',N-6''')-acetylocta-O-acetylparomomycin at room temperature with nitrous acid. The prepared compounds have antibiotic activity and can also be used, for example, to synthesise other glucosidic antibiotics because they have a 4-hydroxyl group free for further glycosylation.
