Abstract
1488487 Transfers MECANORMA (EXPORT) AG 5 Dec 1974 [5 Dec 1973] 56259/73 Heading B6C A transfer sheet comprises an indicium printed in a heat fused plastisol or organosol ink the plastisol or organosol comprising a dispersion of a polymer of vinyl chloride in a plasticizer, the plasticizer being present in an amount of up to 40% by wt. of the polymer. The indicium may be carried on a support which is transparent or translucent, e.g. polyester, polyethylene terephthalate, or polytetrafluoroethylene and a release layer, e.g. a copolymer of methyl vinyl ether and maleic anhydride, an ethylene-maleic anhydride copolymer, a styrenemaleic anhydride copolymer, an epoxy resin, a melamine-formaldehyde or urea-formaldehyde resin, may be disposed between the support and the indicium. The inks may contain PVC or a copolymer of vinyl chloride and vinyl acetate, and the plasticizers used may be alkyl phosphate, alkyl phthalate or alkyl sebacate. The plastisol may also contain unreacted monomer which can react with the main polymer during the fusing step. An adhesive, which may be pressure-sensitive, heat-sensitive or solventactivated is used to bond the indicium to the receptor surface, and this may be disposed over the indicium or on the receptor.
