Abstract

1488447 Valves HOERBIGER VENTILWERKE AG 9 May 1975 [17 May 1974] 19596/75 Heading F2V A valve having a closure member 5 in the form of an apertured piston allows air to flow in the direction of the arrows from a compressor to a pressure vessel and has grooves 13 which cause the closure member to be displaced laterally to close a bleed port 12. When the valve is closed by a spring 9 the closure member occupies a central position and the bleed port communicates with the connection 3 to the compressor. Load on the compressor at start-up is thus relieved. The grooves 13 may be formed in the outer cylindrical surface of the piston or be disposed longitudinally in the bore 2. A further embodiment employs an annular groove around a nipple screwed into the valve body to form the bleed port.
