Abstract

1487669 Filtration apparatus; mixing apparatus BERTRAMS AG HCH 24 June 1975 [3 July 1974] 26661/75 Headings B1C and BID A filtration or agitating apparatus comprises a pressure tight sealable vessel 1 containing a horizontal filter 22 dividing the vessel into two unequal chambers 3a and 3b, the vessel being mounted pivotally about an axis b parallel or at an acute angle to the plane of the filter, the larger chamber containing an axially adjustable stirrer 17 and an opening 5 for charging and discharging, the smaller chamber having an outlet opening 12b for filtrate. The larger chamber at least is provided with heating means (e.g. jacket 4) and may also be connected to a source of compressed air for discharging or filtering. A physical or chemical reaction may first be performed with the apparatus in the position of Fig. 2, the reactants being stirred and/or the vessel oscillated. After removal of the filtrate the filter cake may be dried while the vessel is oscillated or rotated about the axis b. The apparatus may be used for extractions wherein the material to be extracted is fed into the upper chamber and a filtered extract is withdrawn from below the filter.
