1486551 Vehicle washing J M WIMBORNE 13 Aug 1974 [14 Aug 1973 6 Nov 1973 30 Nov. 1973] 38456/73 51440/73 and 55678/73 Heading B7J In a vehicle washing apparatus, a vehicle washing fluid is pumped into a storage means such as a pressure accumulator 1 or 11 so as to charge the accumulator with washing fluid under pressure and then delivered through jets 111 and 115 carried by a vertically movable horizontal frame 101. The frame 101 is stiffened by ring mains to the jets 111 and 115 and supported from masts at one side thereof by ropes 102 provided with counterweights 103 and an actuating jack 104, so that a programmed raising and lowering can be performed during a wash and rinse cycle. Water from a supply 10 is pumped by a pump 4 either to a rinsing water accumulator 1 at over 20 atmospheres, or to a chemical liquid accumulator 11 to dilute chemical concentrate pumped from drums 21. Pressure in the accumulators 1 and 11 is maintained in part by gas from a compressor pump 27, and fluid is also supplied to an under chassis wash UCW.
