Abstract

1486231 Poly(ureaurethanes) MINNESOTA MINING & MFG CO 9 Oct 1974 43772/74 Heading C3R [Also in Division F2] Leakage in a water-barring or holding structure is prevented or reduced by placing at the site of the leak a solution in a water-miscible solvent of a water-miscible NCO-terminated polyoxyethylene polyol prepolymer (P) which reacts in situ with water to produce a foamed hydrophilic poly(urethane-urea) seal. In the example, (P) is in the form of a solution containing 2 prepolymers made by reacting TDI separately with PEGs of MW 600 and 1000, dry acetone, non-ionic surfactant, and water containing 2,4,6-tri(dimethylaminomethyl) phenol as catalyst.
