Abstract

1484450 Needling machine E FEHRER 1 March 1976 [3 April 1975] 08116/76 Heading D1R [Also in Division B5] A needling machine suitable for laminating non-woven webs to the inside and outside of an endless woven fabric 10 comprises a plurality of juxtaposed needling units 3 mounted in a row extending the working width of the machine and jointly driven by flexible couplings 4, a perforated stripper 5 and a perforated web support 9 which is mounted on or forms part of a table 7 which is pivoted about a vertical axis (8, Fig. 1, not shown) at one end and releasably locked at the other end, and a second set of needling units 3a disposed in the table. The units 3a may have couplings 4a, stripper plate 5a and support plate 9a identical with those in the upper assembly. As shown a web supplied from roll 11 is needled to the outside of continuous fabric 10 by the needling units 3 whilst a second web supplied by roll 11a is needled to the inside of the fabric 10 by the lower units 3a. The table is unlocked and swung about vertical axis (8) to remove the resultant endless paper-maker's felt and supply a new fabric 10.
