Abstract

1484369 Sewing machine work feed STAHL-URBAN CO 29 Oct 1974 [1 Nov 1973] 46834/74 Heading D1G [Also in Division F2] In a drive for linearly moving a driven member 85 under the control of a programme 12 a rotary shaft 79 is driven continuously and rollers 87, 87a carried by the member 85 are adapted to contact the shaft 79 and be brought into a skewed position, as shown in Fig. 6, in order to cause linear movement of the member 85. The skewing of the rollers is controlled by a crank 103 on the mounting of roller 87a connected to a chain 99 driven by a stepping motor 35 which is responsive to signals generated by the programmer 12. Two such drives are used to position a carriage 17 in an automatic high-speed sewing machine.
