Abstract
148,405. R÷der, K. May 13, 1914, [Convention date]. Regulating. - A quickclosing valve a for steam or gas turbines is so controlled that it can only be opened slowly for starting. The valve is opened and held in the open position against a spring c by oil pressure admitted under the piston b by a pipe d, the amount of opening being determined by a cap i secured to a screw spindle e. The cap i closes openings g in the piston connecting the oil inlet d with the oil outlet h. On opening an exit valve in the pipe d, the valve a is quickly closed as the piston b, descending under the pressure of the spring, opens the additional exits g for the oil. Before the valve can be opened by the closure of the oil exit valve in the pipe d, the cap i must be screwed down to close the openings g, the subsequent opening being controlled by the screw e. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that the cap i may unseal the openings g by a sliding or turning motion instead of a lifting motion. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
