Abstract

1483743 Seals NIPPON PISTON RING CO Ltd 15 Nov 1974 [17 Nov 1973] 49632/74 Heading F2T A seal ring between relatively movable parts such as a piston 2 and cylinder 5 comprises a ring 6 of rectangular section and a ring 76 of L-shaped section, the latter being dished by insertion in the cylinder and the sliding surface 74 of its axial portion being inclined relative to its initially radial portion 75 by an angle equal to or greater than that through which the ring is dished, whereby contact with the cylinder can occur over the whole or only a part of its outer surface. The axial portion 74 is located in a flange portion 81 of a groove in the piston 2. Means, not described, may prevent rotation of the seal in its groove, and the seal rings may be of synthetic resin.
