Abstract
1483293 Coating wires by hot dipping SIEMENS A G 18 Sept 1974 [19 Sept 1973] 40751/74 Heading C7F In the coating of a wire of e.g. Cu with e.g. Sn by hot dipping, the thickness of the coating is controlled by withdrawing it through a nozzle 4 in an outlet chamber, which nozzle does not touch the coated wire. An inert gas is fed to the nozzle arid the gas escapes over the top of the bath as well as along the wire. The outlet chamber may be heated to above the melting point of Sn. The wire may be passed vertically upwards through a bath, the wire passing through an inlet chamber, which is similar to the outlet chamber. In a modification Fig. 3, (not shown) the wire may enter and leave at the upper surface of the bath.
