Abstract

1482075 Change speed gear; chain wheels RALEIGH INDUSTRIES Ltd 15 Aug 1974 [22 Aug 1973] 39702/73 Headings F2D and F2Q A sprocket cluster for a chain-shift change speed gear on a pedal-propelled vehicle such as a cycle, comprises an inner sleeve 11 screwed to a hub, and supporting, on cup-and-cone ball bearings 16, 19, a sprocket-carrying sleeve 13 having internal ratchet teeth 14a for engagement with pawls carried by a raised part 14 of the inner sleeve 11; spaced sprockets 15a, removably splined on the carrier sleeve 13; one bearing cone 17, for setting clearance, being adjustable externally of the assembly. For this purpose the cone 17 screws in the carrier sleeve 13 and is locked by a nut 18 which forms an abutment against which the splined sprocket group 15a is axially pressed by screwing at the other end of the carrier a pair of connected or integral sprockets 15b.
