Abstract

1481062 Photographic processing apparatus HOECHST AG 23 Aug 1974 [25 Aug 1973] 37164/74 Heading G2X In apparatus for processing photographic materials of various lengths and widths the means for replenishing developer in proportion to the surface area treated comprises: (i) electric pulse generator means in proportion to the length of photographic material passing through the apparatus, (ii) a control circuit operative to adjust the proportionality between the length of the photographic material and the number of pulses to a value which is proportional also to the width of the photographic material and (iii) means to count the pulses produced by the pulse generator means and operative to cause the addition of a predetermined quantity of developer each time a predetermined number of pulses has been counted. The apparatus may provide means to produce a signal proportional to the speed of movement of the material and an integrator arranged to integrate the signal proportional to speed over the time the material is passing through the apparatus means to multiply the output of the integrator by a signal representing width of the material to give a signal representing area. This is applied to an analogue to digital converter that produces a pulse train of frequency proportional to the input signal. The pulse generator may comprise an apertured disc, rotated by the material drive motor or otherwise; that transmits light from a light source periodically on to photo-conducting elements to produce a pulse train.
