Abstract
1481057 Treating exhaust gas from a turbosupercharged engine J EBERSPACHER 30 Sept 1974 [28 Sept 1973] 42457/74 Heading B1W [Also in Division Fl] The exhaust gases from an exhaust gas driven turbo-supercharged internal combustion engine are cleaned by causing the exhaust gas pressure to build up at the upstream side of the turbine (e.g. by shaping the inlet to give a throttling effect) so that the exhaust gas temperature increases and a first combustion phase is initiated and introducing a quantity of air derived from the turbine compressor into the exhaust gas at the downstream side of the compressor to initiate a second combustion phase. The exhaust gas may be contacted with a catalyst (e.g. copper oxide) during its passage through the turbine.
