Abstract
1480487 Sealant composition CHRYSLER CORP 24 June 1974 27944/74 Headings C3B and C3P A sealant composition is prepared by heating (e.g. at 120-170‹ F.) a mixture comprising: (I) an olefinically unsaturated liquid polymer of a C 4-8 diolefinic hydrocarbon compound, a major proportion of the molecules of the said polymer having on average two separated terminal allyl bromide groups and/or a bromine content of 1-15% by wt. of the polymer; (II) a liquid polyepoxide having an equivalent weight of 170-210; and (III) a primary amine terminated polyamide. The weight ratio of I : II may be 30 : 70 to 70 : 30; there may be present 1 to 5 parts of III per 5 parts of I and III combined. I may be prepared by polymerizing a C 4-8 diene, e.g. butadiene-1,3 in the presence of a compound Br-Y-CBr 3 where Y is a hydrocarbon radical comprising a C 4-8 diolefinic hydrocarbon monomer unit having a M.W. 54-1000. I may have an intrinsic viscosity of 0À2-0À4 measured in toluene at 30‹ C. III may be the reaction product of triethylenetetramine and a dimer fatty acid. Conventional fillers and thixotropic agents may be present, e.g. asbestos, silica, zinc oxide. Uses.-Motor car body panels.
