Abstract

1480109 Automatic control for temperature reference MECTRON (FRIGISTOR) Ltd 24 July 1975 [25 July 1974] 32985/74 Heading G3R [Also in Division H1] A chamber 10 for use as a temperature reference for a thermocouple is cooled by thermoelectric means 16, 17 connected to an external heat sink 20, 21 by one or more heat pipes 18, 19, 22, 23 defined as sealed pipes containing a liquid which is vapourized at the "hot" end and condensed at the "cold" end. The invention is applied to the cooled chamber described in Specifications 1152374 and 1098270, in which the proportion of ice to water in a mixture surrounding the chamber is kept constant, using a bellows device to detect the ratio and operate a micro-switch in the supply to the thermo-electric device.
