Abstract

1480102 Supply systems for stud welding apparatus GRUNDY & PARTNERS Ltd 14 April 1975 [15 Jan 1974] 01928/74 Heading H2H [Also in Division B3] A supply system for a stud welding or soldering gun 35 comprises a chassis 16 having road engaging wheels 13 and rail-engaging wheels 14 and carrying an I.C. engine 15 driving an alternator 16, the output of which is directed by a primary switching circuit 17 and a control circuit 18 to either a battery 19 or dummy load 20, the circuit 18 being connected to an electronic control unit 21 to direct the output of the alternator to the battery when the battery output is below a predetermined value. The battery has three 15 v. accumulators in a box 22, and the electrical circuitry is in a box 26 having a control panel 27 having sockets for the gun 35 and other equipment. A short circuit protection device has a fuse for sensing this current from the battery a predetermined time after operation of the gun; if the current is too high, a main contactor is opened to de-energize the apparatus.
